About the client

HealthTech Build is a mission-driven nonprofit that catalyzes collaboration among healthcare entrepreneurs, clinicians, digital innovators, leaders in Biotech and MedTech, researchers, and investors. Based in Boston, they build connections through workshops, roundtables, and panel events, with an emphasis on closing the technology gap in healthcare.

HealthTech Build has launched HealthTech Build Studio, an online educational platform designed to tackle critical issues in healthcare. The platform’s initial content focuses on pivotal research addressing the challenges of fairness, equity, and bias that can emerge from AI-driven healthcare products.

The Challenge

AI is transforming healthcare, but it can also deepen bias and inequality. HealthTech Build Studio set out to close that gap with an interactive platform that makes bias research accessible, and needed a tech partner to help build it and put those insights within reach.

The Solution

We developed an e-learning solution to help users quickly grasp key quantitative and qualitative insights from AI healthcare research. The platform features an admin module for the HealthTech Build Studio team to independently create and update content with emerging research. With modules and a slide-builder, it supports multimedia for customized learning experiences per study.

The Process

1. Light-it Foundation’s Tech Collaboration Grant

Light-it was looking for an exceptional nonprofit in the healthcare domain driven by a passion for creating real change with technology. Light-it contributed $50,000 in services, including software development, product design, and expert consultancy, to help HealthTech Build Studio fulfill its goals.

2. technical challenge

The development of a CMS (Content Management System) from scratch that enabled the autonomous creation of new learning modules was one of the main challenges. Light-it’s team evaluated different tech stacks before developing a comprehensive course builder solution.

An admin portal for user, content & platform management

The Admin Portal brings the operational side of the platform into one place. Administrators can manage users and permissions, create and edit content, publish webinars, oversee forums, and control access to shared resources. This gives healthcare organizations a single workspace to manage both the people and the content that keep the platform running.

Centralized Platform Administration
Administrators have a centralized view of the platform, bringing together users, content, content creation and editing, forums, and other core features in one place. This gives teams greater visibility over the platform’s activity and makes it easier to manage resources, users, and collaboration from a single interface.

Why it matters

HealthTech Build set out to make complex research on fairness and bias in healthcare AI easier to understand and apply. Light-it’s role was to turn that vision into a practical digital learning experience, combining research-based content with interactive education and community engagement. We built a platform where healthcare professionals can learn through different formats, test their knowledge, and exchange ideas, creating a space that makes responsible AI education more accessible and actionable.

"It was such an incredibly positive experience to work with Light-it. Communication and execution were excellent all around – from the outset, they ensured our goals and expectations were aligned, the discovery process was first-rate, and the development team delivered efficiently. The proactive reach out from company leadership for feedback after the work was completed really differentiates them. Highly recommend".

3. Development, Integrations and QA

The engineering team built the wearable integrations, prediction pipeline, and both interfaces on compressed timelines, using AI-assisted code generation to accelerate delivery while maintaining code quality. Given the clinical stakes, QA combined automated testing at scale with manual validation of every component tied to a clinical decision.
