The Problem

Vizo aims to significantly enhance the quality of life for those who struggle with attention problems by utilizing cutting-edge technology and customized solutions.

Its proprietary Peripheral Retinal Stimuli technology (PRS™) uses peripheral vision as a therapeutic tool. Applying personalized minuscule color stimuli embedded in the lenses prompts an immediate effect on the attentional control mechanism.

When they reached Light-it, it had bugs in the system that allowed it to manage its solution. These cameras are crucial, as they carry out the studies of each patient, the configuration of the lenses according to the results of each test, the coordination of the appointments, and the management of the patient data in its CRM.

The Solution

We took over the software needed to manage the camera that carried out the eye testing. Using cameras with eye tracking, Vizo can personalize the treatment for each patient. This system also managed the patient's information and their appointments.

We configured, fixed, and improved its React frontend and the Node.js microservices to allow Vizo team provide an effective and frictionless service.

Technical Challenges

Some challenges we faced when developing and designing the product:

Takeover of the React web application that comprises the appointments and patient's user interface.

Connection between the cameras and the different microservices.

Debugging and deploying on their local machine remotely.

Integration with Salesforce API to obtain patients' data.

Integration with AWS Amplify and Cognito for user authentication.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity Disorder

IMPACTED POPULATION

  • Approx. 1 in 25 adults have this disorder.
  • 8% of children in the US are diagnosed with this disorder.

Coverage status

  • 90% of the affected population may be currently untreated, with potentially profound negative impacts on their lives.

AFFECTION’S NEGATIVE IMPACT

  • Current diagnostic criteria for ADHD include 18 symptoms defined by the three core symptoms of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity.
  • The National Comorbidity Survey Replication (NCS-R) carefully screened American adults for symptoms that dated back into childhood and continued to cause impairment in at least 2 areas of the individual's life.
