Light-it team Team dynamics

Team Dynamics

These are some activities and events we employ to foster our working culture in the team.

Constant Feedback

Constant and effective feedback is a powerful source that impacts performance, happiness, commitment, and collaborator satisfaction. It's key for collaborators to have different instances of feedback, both formal and informally, and with different teammates. That's why we maintain:

  • PM/Leader <> Collaborator Feedback Sessions every 4 months.
  • HR <> Collaborator Feedback Sessions every 6 months.
  • OKR sessions every 3 months.

Learning at Light-it

At Light-it we take learning quite seriously, in fact, one of Light-it's top purposes is being a workplace where collaborators continuously grow professionally and learn every day. We bring agility and innovation to all the nooks of our structure, this includes (especially) collaborators, who we think as people in permanent personal and professional growth, that never settle. Ongoing education benefits collaborators by helping them acquire new skills and feel fulfilled; simultaneously, this positively impacts the organization.

For these reasons, we have the following Learning Initiatives that encourage and support our collaborators to always expand their horizons by developing new skills.

Fri-Yay Talks:

On Fridays, collaborators organize Fri-Yay Talks. It's a team space where we share knowledge, personal, and company insights. The topics are diverse but valuable; let's review some talks we had:

  • Carlos taught us Japanese.
  • Dan presented Tailwinds.
  • A guest hosted a global-warming talk.
  • Martin shared insights on Product Validation.
  • Maiu hosted a talk about emotional intelligence.
  • Jose talked about the importance of feedback.
  • Leti showed us her final degree's exposition.
  • Gonza talked about the PMs role.
  • And so many more!

Blogging

The blog is where Light-it collaborators share valuable knowledge with our community. As a teammate, you're invited to get inspired, bring your inner author out and write a blog post. We love engaging with the tech community and blogging is fantastic to contribute. And it's also a good reason to do research and learn about something you're interested in.

Learn-It Refund Program | Tech-Courses

One of Light-it's top purposes is being a workplace where collaborators continuously grow professionally and learn every day. Ongoing education benefits collaborators by helping them acquire new skills and feel fulfilled; simultaneously, this positively impacts the organization.
This is why our collaborators have a yearly refund for tech-related courses.

Research

When someone at Light-it has some extra time or is in bench-time between project and project, we encourage them to research new technologies and methodologies... and share them with the team on a Fri-yay Talk or blog post!

Light-it Library

We built Light-it’s library and stocked it with valuable books for our collaborators to read and learn. Suggestions are appreciated, so if you have any book to recommend, send your ideas here.

Community Activities

Team Dynamics are activities that promote team spirit and sense of community. We believe that powerful teams are made up by colleagues that don’t only work together, but also have fun together, and enjoy spending time around each other.

Friday Lunch on Us

Fridays are team days! That's why we carry out Fri-Yay Talks and Team Lunch. We order yummy food for everyone and have some fun. The best part of the year is spring and summer because we can eat outside at the beautiful park.

Team Activities

Every once in a while, we organize fun activities such as barbecues, after offices, board games, concerts, etc. We'll let you know via Slack, Whatsapp, or personally. You should come... it's fun!

Shuffl' Meetings

Shuffl' Meetings are weekly 15-minute "coffee breaks" created to unite the remote team during the pandemic. It's a short break in which you chat with a colleague to keep on building strong relationships even when we are from home. It's a way of having the typical 1: 1 talks that occur naturally in the office with colleagues with whom you do not necessarily have contact during projects.
