About the client
The Problem
In the US, obtaining prescription drugs is usually expensive, complex, and bureaucratic. Scripted Health allies with pharmacies to have a positive impact by making common medications more accessible. Scripted Health contacted Light-it's team to incorporate users' health insurance providers as a payment method. In this way, insurance may cover appointments with pharmacies that will allow customers to access drug prescriptions.
The Solution
We developed a solution including the front-end and back-end that incorporated each user’s medical insurance into Scripted Health's payment flow. We integrated Candid Health into our client's platform to make this happen. Candid Health is a modern medical payments platform that enables healthcare providers to automate medical billing for healthcare providers. By integrating it into Scripted Health's online pharmacy workflow, we enabled the "Copayment insurance" service provided by various medical insurance.
In addition, we developed the entire payment flow, guaranteeing PHI security to comply with HIPAA regulations.

According to Scripted, the medical system needs to be operating more effectively. As for today, getting access to medication prescriptions is inaccessible, bureaucratic, and unaffordable. Scripted trust pharmacists have the power to change things. Their telehealth platform is accessible and affordable; patients can use their insurance or pay cash.
Pharmacists can treat common conditions by prescribing treatment for common diseases or conditions.
The process process consists of inquiring if the insurance covers the medical consultation.
This involves steps allowing the platform to send a summary of the consultation and documentation to the insurance provider to evaluate the case and give a response.
If the person is eligible for the medication, the pharmacist will write a prescription and provide it at the same visit.
Technical Challenge
The logic to define insurance coverage is very complex. It requires a lot of work from the client to understand the conditions that each insurance will evaluate to determine if it covers each specific case. Many factors are involved in this decision: the plan the customers own, their medical condition, and the policies of each insurance provider.
