About the client

The AB InBev Foundation works with global organizations and local entrepreneurs to turn bold ideas into measurable impact. Focused on Smart Drinking and sustainable development, it funds, manages, and tracks projects that improve lives and strengthen communities. Guided by decades of expertise in public health, community building, and philanthropy, the Foundation partners with change-makers to create solutions that last.

The Challenge

Screening and Brief Intervention (SBI) is a validated method for reducing harmful alcohol use. Traditional delivery relies heavily on healthcare professionals. This makes itcostly and challenging to scale in high-demandclinical settings.
To address this, the AB InBev Foundation needed to shift to a digital-first approach.

The Solution

Light-it team built for AB InBev Foundation an electronic SBI (e-Screening and Brief Intervention). This is an all-in-one product that connects patients with providers, designed to be fast, scalable, and accessible.

It features a 2–3 minute digital alcohol use assessment followed by an automated brief intervention for users identified as at-risk. The tool offers the possibility of taking electronic SBIs and keeping a record history of their previous evaluations. Telehealth functionality is included to serve as the appointments tool.

The Process

1. Discovery

We started with an agile discovery phase, using user interviews and competitive research to identify adoption challenges in the healthcare space. Insights guided the product roadmap and aligned it with ABIF’s strategy.

2. UX/UI

Through iterative UATs (User Acceptance Testing)  and feedback loops, we refined core features and validated usability.
User testing of high-fidelity prototypes validated an intuitive and scalable solution that aligns with clinical workflows.

3. Development & QA

Our team brought the product to life, while keeping the AB InBev Foundation involved at every stage. We launched an MVP and refined it through continuous testing and iteration.
